I have written many poems and this one is the one that gets me the most.
I wipe a tear in my eye each night.
For the soldier watching over us in the pale moonlight.
I cry in my pillow and say a prayer
For those protecting the freedom we share.
All of this nonsense built on a lie
told by those who sit up on high.
Tell them their deaths are not in vain,
Give them medals yet spare them no pain.
When they come home those that they love will sit by,
All they can do is just break down and cry
For the friends they have lost and innocent people who died.
Wishing somehow they could go back in time.
Change all that happened, that broke them inside.
I wipe a tear in my eye each night,
Praying for the soldiers in the pale moonlight.
