A daily blog in defense of liberalism and the President.
A cheerful thought during rough economic times is always something everyone can look forward too, and yesterday my wife and I took our children to the St. Louis Zoo which has free admittance. It is a beautiful Zoo and the family had a great time, the tigers were all out and rolling around playing with each other, not to mention many of the animals in the park were getting it on like it was a dating game on VH-1. It is good to know there are places out there that you can take you family and have a nice outing and not pay an arm and a leg to do so. During these economic times I thank the Zoo and the people who are able to keep its doors open to the public for free by their donations and grants. So I encourage everyone to go enjoy a Zoo or a State Park, or any place else out there that is free or cheap because it is spending time with your family that matters not spending money.
So Sarah Palin finally says goodbye, but couldn’t do it without spouting more garbage from her pie hole. For Sarah to call out the media for telling falsehoods is rich to say the least and fucking ridiculous to be more accurate. This woman hasn’t said a truthful thing since she was put in front of the public eye almost a year ago. I wish her leaving office meant that we won’t have to see or hear from her anymore but we all know that isn’t going to happen; actually I figure it is the opposite for she will be making her way onto our evening TV’s before we know it, because how could the right live without there Sarah the Star.
If you watched Bill Maher last Friday on HBO, he did his closing rant on why is healthcare a for profit business. I agree, why is peoples health and wellbeing a profit driven business? The basic business model is all about selling more, making more, expanding markets, etc. How can we trust a business not to do what is best for the business and not for its patients? We can’t. Not everything in this country has to have a profit motive! Whatever happened to people doing things for the greater good? Whatever happened with public service and working to better communities? How have the Republicans made service to community and nation a dirty thing? I don’t know, but they sure have, for if you want to help others and make no profit you must be some kind of communist or something. It appears the President’s plan is taking some real hits and may not pass now or even in a few months, and sadly that is mostly the fault of the American people who are such fucking fence sitters they go whatever way the wind blows or whatever way the last 30 second political ad tells them too. The saddest part is there seems to be no compromise that everyone can agree upon and many who don’t want any compromise at all, for all they want is the status quo and power in 2010, I hope the American people see through all the bullshit, but I fear they will not.
Now we come to the Philosopher of the Week, a true American original Mark Twain, who said, "The political and commercial morals of the United States are not merely food for laughter, they are an entire banquet." I guess it is nice to see that we have been consistent in our ridiculousness. Twain also wrote, "In religion and politics people's beliefs and convictions are in almost every case gotten at second-hand, and without examination, from authorities who have not themselves examined the questions at issue but have taken them at second-hand from other non-examiners, whose opinions about them were not worth a brass farthing." This would explain the religious right completely, and sadly. Well until tomorrow enjoy your day and your life, goodbye....
