I woke up this morning to the apparent new GOP talking point about the connection of the cash for clunkers program and health care reform articulated by the too-tanned John Boehner.
According to an AP article:
House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio said lawmakers were working to bring the measure to the House floor on Friday but it was unclear how many Republicans would support on the plan. ''There are a lot of questions about how the administration administered this program. If they can't handle something as simple as this, how would we handle health care?'' Boehner told The Associated Press.

For Real???? Are you really going to compare the administration of "cash for clunkers" to administering a public option health care program? Come on, too tanned!
By the way, the government already administers the VA which provided EXCELLENT care to both my uncles who are vets.
I noticed that Boehner is not the first to use this metaphor. Last night on Belief Net, a blogger had this to say about Cash for Clunkers running out of money:
Leave it to the government to mess it up and you people want the same people in charge of your healthcare. Yeah that will work.

Tim Worstall of the Examiner blogged that this program is a lesson in government haste leading to future problems. He also makes the healthcare analogy.
However, there is a larger lesson that can be learned from Cash for Clunkers. A government program, passed in a hurry with no real planning or forethought to it, hampered by an entirely inadequate computer system, blasts through its entire four month budget in only four days and thus causes chaos. This does not bode well for the various plans for national health care now, does it?

I find it HILARIOUS that Republicans who mostly opposed this measure are now complaining that the goverment should have anticipated how successful the measure would prove to be with the public. The Rethugs truly have NO SHAME. This is obviously not new news!
