Just a public service announcement. San Diego congressperson Susan Davis has two staff positions and one page position open.
I would like to take a moment to let you know about three exciting congressional opportunities: two full time staff positions in my offices and one U.S. House Page position.
Current staffers Mike Velasquez and Luis Cruz are moving on to other opportunities. I will miss them and wish them well.
I would appreciate it if you would help me spread the word and encourage qualified people you know to apply. Because I can serve my constituents better if I hire people who know San Diego, I am turning to you first. You will find more information about these opportunities below. Thank you for your help.
Warm Regards,
Susan
CONGRESSIONAL PAGE (Washington)
I am now accepting applications for nominations to participate in the U.S. House of Representatives Page Program for the upcoming fall semester. Although Members of Congress sponsor Pages from their districts, Pages work for the entire House of Representatives. This is the first time I have been given the chance to sponsor a Page. As a parent and former youth program director, I am delighted at the prospect of giving a young person from San Diego the opportunity to serve in this capacity.Pages serve as support staff for Members of the House. Page duty consists primarily of assisting Members of Congress on the Floor and helping with the dissemination of legislative material within the congressional complex. Serving as a Page is a great way to learn firsthand about Congress.
The fall term for Pages is from September 5, 2004 to January 28, 2005. Housing, academic classes and a stipend are provided. These positions are very competitive. Pages must be high school juniors at least 16 years of age and have a 3.0 GPA. If you need further information or application information, please contact: Cynthia Patton at (202) 225-2040. Completed applications must be received in my Washington office by July 9th.

The ideal candidate will have outstanding oral and written communication skills, extensive legislative experience and proven accomplishments in defense/military issues, superior organizational skills, strong management credentials and a passion for teamwork and constituent service. This is a senior-level position.
Military service and San Diego ties are preferable but not mandatory. At least 5 years Capitol Hill experience strongly preferred. Please fax resume, references and cover letter to 202-225-2948. No phone calls please.
