By reminding us that emphasis on neoconservatives is really a shorthand for something else, I'd like to thank David Brooks, esteemed writer for the New York Times.
Only, the "something else" part he has wrong. We are not using neoconservative and neocon as shorthand for Jew, but as shorthand for PNAC, The Project For A New American Century, and our errant and radical foreign policy.
Why am I thanking Brooks? Because for bringing this up, we can be sure to get some major media play out of just why there is an emphasis these days on neoconservatism.
Of course, it's only a matter of time before either the Dean or Clark campaigns bring it up anyway, but this lets us shoot down errant memes about criticism of neoconservatism being about anti-semitism early on.
It's about the Project For A New American Century, and that is the centerpiece, along with our treatment of our allies and the truth, of the opposition to and criticism of the latest war in Iraq.
