Mike Stark from FDL apparently had an interview with Valerie Jarrett this morning shortly after her speech to Netroots Nation.
The interview is posted here: FDL interview w/Valerie Jarrett
Going through the interview, several things jump out at me.
First, Valerie Jarrett notes there has been "no hint of a compromise with the public option" in the WH. She notes specifically to not be "alarmed" because he had not mentioned it in a speech from his national press conference from two weeks ago.
Second, what I was most flabbergasted about was that Mike Stark was advocating that Obama threaten to not sign the Farm Bill that's coming up for vote because here's his logic. Most of the blue dogs come from Farm States. As "punishment" for not voting his way he should not sign that bill. Of course that ignores what the bill is for. Yes, part of it goes to Big Ag but another big part goes to the farmers in those states, and there would be such a massive shitstorm thrown because of this threat (which is unlikely) that I doubt he would get anything else done.
Third, the tone of the interviewer was off. Yes, I know impromptu haranguing is Mike Stark's schitck and kudos in getting some hard answers from Valerie, but he just came across as impetuous, just dickish in his line of questioning.
UPDATE: This is just my perspective in the interview, others may have different ones. Mr. Stark is correct that we need to hold folks' feet to the fire. His response is below.
That's my vibe from the interview, let me know what everyone else thinks.
