So far the program with the biggest blue collar bang for the buck is the "cash for clunkers" program.Manufacturing is at a serious low and the battle cry for stimulus was Americans needs jobs.Even Biden gave a short answer campaiging on what America needed J-O-B-S he spelled and he was right. Now being faced with the horrible outcome of success for Main Street for the Obama administration and hence average Americans the old conservative arguments have been dragged out of the pantry of lies to keep the trickle in a downward flow.Watch the blue dogs run from Obama in the senate because they must play both sides and they are not from the rust belt states.Forget "United we Stand " in the senate. It is dog eat dog and no dog is hungrier than the blue dogs.McCaskill is joining with McCain? So much for the politics of hope .I guess we will see politics as ususual in this case.In short these senators are telling us "my job is far more important than your job America so I will do whatever it takes to keep mine.
Perhaps because the concept was literally conceived in Europe which automatically make it un American .

Maybe because it is working so well for blue collar workers it will cost votes for the republicans in the upcoming 2010 Congressional elections by creating jobs on Main Street instead of Wall Street and heaven know we can not have that.Even the great guru Alan Greenspan had to admit "the car and truck building had begun to rebound even before the program got under way. But, he added, "there is no doubt that that very extraordinary response is a very important indicator that the state of confidence in the economy is beginning to pick up." If the incentive program had gone into place six months ago, he said, "it would have probably been a dud."
The republicans now bolstered by some democrats we now know as blue dogs are going to do there best to stop an Obama fiscal success. They should be ashamed but of course these people have no shame.Stimulus is supposed to stimulate growth and growth stimulates jobs and ultimately the gross national product. That is financial growth that allows for us to replace the debt with revenue. It is a simple tried tested and true formula to justify government stimulus.
It sure worked for big banking they are posting record profits now so why any opposition to cash for clunkers? The stimulus dollars are already committed they are simply being realocted from one program to another.
Now this ticks off Senator Bingaman D-New Mexico because he is concerned with the way the House paid for the extension, shifting $2 billion from a renewable energy loan program.Of course this programs would be stimulating to New Mexico who has little manufacturing.
McCain is simply being bitter trickle down McCain. He is of sticking to his standard half of the truth while whining about the taxes his future multimillionare grandchildren will have to pay.Heaven forbid they may have to settle for a paltry one house and one car per child like the little people who build autos strive to acheive. No mention of course that this is already committed stimulus money.Let people think the senate must committ more money that increases the federal debt.
Senator Jim Demint who votes to subsidize corporate wheat farming groups 82-100% of the time seems to think if your not a farmer you don't need to work.He of course opposes everything Obama represents so of course he is out portraying Obama as a used car salesman.
Bottom line is this program works. It worked in Europe and it is working better tha expected here in the USA.It is a win /win for the manufacturing and the envoirment.Taking gas guzzler autos off the road while stimulating jobs and increasing fuel economy is as close to prefect as a government program can get. This program is fiscally stimulating, reduces dependence of foreign oil and creates manufacturing jobs on many levels.A little known fact is 50% of advertising revenues for print media comes from auto manufacturers. It is time these so called represntatives of the American people start working for the American people's jobs and not their own.I strongly urge all who read this to flood the senate with calls to demand this program be funded. It is time that those who hate government to get out of it.
Sec LaHood stated "We knew it was going to be very popular. We didn't know it was going to be as wildly popular as it was,". What is the jusification for any senator to oppose this program. There simply is not one factual reason to not fund this program further.
