It was inevitable that the Christmas wars would come to the state of Georgia, with all the persecuted Baptists unable to freely express themselves. It seems as though Bill O'Lielly has found another loyal acolyte willing to take up the Bible and an American flag lapel pin and defend the word "Christmas" from all the evil secularists that have established majority rule over this nation.
Georgia State Representative Clay Cox (R-Lilburn) has filed legislation to protect an American's right to say Merry Christmas. As Master Yoda would say, "Begun, the Christmas War has."
Rep. Cox believes that such legislation is necessary, and, perhaps it is. It is tough for Christians in Georgia being an 85% minority, and having conservative Republicans controlling all aspects of political authority. Tough. Real tough.
I must admit that my give a shit meter is about at a zero for the plight of oppressed Christians in the Bible Belt. It is hard to be understanding when you know that Jesus was born in April, the date meshes with the Winter Solstice, Sol Invinctus and Mithras, and that many of the symbols of the holiday are pagan fertility symbols (Hello, O! Tannenbaum).
Hey, if you are feeling jolly give Rep. Cox a ring and wish him a Merry Saturnalia.
