MSNBC's national political reporter Tom Curry was a guest last night on Hardball (guest hosted by Nora "Noron" O'Donnell). Curry, who is a solid reporter, spent five days in Iowa among the state's Democratic party members to gauge their feelings on the 2008 field. Below the fold are his findings--something we here at DKos already knew, but which Noron practically refused to accept.
Curry said that after four or five days talking with Iowa Democrats he could not find one (not one!) who expressed any excitement or enthusiasm about the prospect of Senator Clinton running for president in 2008. This came as shocking news to O'Donnell. You can see in her reaction the unsaid thought balloon: How could this be? We in the media have laid the groundwork for this narrative and the folks down on the ground are not following the script!
Curry also describes how people in Iowa and N.H. are curious to hear more from Mark Warner and Russ Feingold. (I would add, and many here at dKos would agree, that Al Gore is also remaining the unsaid wildcard obviously).
It was a very satisfying and revealing moment. You can watch the clip from a link on this MSNBC page:

Even though it says N.H., his comments come about the past week he spent in Iowa. Enjoy.
The evidence is mounting that this so-called frontrunner status is actually a huge bubble waiting to burst. That sound you hear is the sound of air escaping...
PS: Perhaps Crooks & Liars can get this video up for people on Macs. MSNBC is strictly Microsoft compatible.
