I mentioned this idea earlier in a comment on another diary, but I've thought it through and come up with a better idea. Follow along for my vision of a Democratic ad that could work.
FADE IN
A camera swoops in over a bridge where we see a crowd of people in a circle having an obviously heated debate. On the other side of the bridge is a long line of people in business suits by the rail.
The camera focuses in on a person in a business suit about to jump. He says "stay the course" and then flings himself off. The next one climbs up on the rail and repeats this. A third, goes, and then camera swings over the crowd.
The crowd is having a heated debate. Most of it is just noise, but you hear phrases like "timetable" and "phased withdrawl" and "over the horizon". Then the camera switches to a General in desert fatigues walking accross the bridge. He comes up to the line of guys at the rail.
As one starts to climb up, he says, "excuse me sir", and is ignored as the man jumps off. Another one starts to climb, "Hey, I think we have a problem," he goes on and another jumps. "Sir, we need your help," the general pleads as another jumps off.
The general, fed up, walks over to the arguing mob. He comes up to them and they all stop, dead silent and look at him. The general says, "I need you help". Camera pans out with the general obviously talking about what's going on and the crowd intently listening.
FADE OUT
I feel like there should be a good catch phrase at the end but not sure what it would be.
