That's what I want to know. Kentucky just handed a $10 million check to the University of the Cumberlands, a private Baptist school, which just kicked out a gay student for, well, being GAY!
I didn't know being GAY WAS A F'ING CRIME!!
Let me get this straight? Being gay is as bad as flunking your class?
Now the boyfriend of the student is demanding that the state of Kentucky not support bigots.
Zac Dreyer was among some 50 protesters who rallied Wednesday morning at a park in Williamsburg over Jason Johnson's expulsion. Johnson didn't attend the rally, which featured rainbow-colored gay pride flags and numerous signs, including one that read, "If God didn't create homosexuals, why do they exist?"
Some points after the fold.
First of all, it's good to see the media report Zac as Jason
BOYFRIEND rather than "partner".
I've never liked the term "partner". It was like they could accept that a man could be another man's boyfriend or a woman be another woman's wife & so they had to invent a word.
Call them what they are! Zac is Jason's boyfriend PERIOD & he's absolutely right that the Government should not be giving money to a bigoted school.
There's a chance that we can help stop state-sponsored Bigotry:
Brett Hall, a spokesman for Gov. Ernie Fletcher, said Wednesday the governor hasn't yet decided whether to use his line-item veto power to remove the funding for the pharmacy school from the state budget.
The Governor can cut the funding request out of the bill that goes before him.
We cannot allow being GAY to be a valid reason to kick someone out of ANY institution.
Contact the Governor's office & ask them (politely - let's see if they listen folks!) to STOP STATE SPONSORED BIGOTRY.
Here's Brett Hall's email: brettc.hall@ky.gov.
Here's the whole damn staff
