Why is this important now? Read on. . . .
This is a big deal. With Sen. Paul Sarbanes retiring and Lt. Gov. Michael Steele, an African-American Republican, thinking of running for the open seat, three Democrats (Mfume, Cardin and Van Hollen) all but in the Democratic primary, plus Gov. Ehrlich trying to keep his job against either Baltimore City Mayor Martin O'Malley or Montgomery County Executive Doug Duncan, Maryland has become a hot political state in 2006. Ehrlich will be well funded, and it is incumbent upon us as true blue loyal Democrats to pony up, starting now.
So if you're in the DC area, come out to Strathmore (beautiful brand spanking new music facility, BTW), see Dean, give a few bucks, and let's kick off the 2006 campaign in style.
See you there.
