Well, our school district decided in it's infinite wisdom to ban the showing of President Obama's speech today. They won't say officially why, other than to say "some parents complained." They won't say how many, and they wont make the school board's votes public. So I'll just have to vote them all out.
Our kids were mad, so we told them they could stay home from school today and watch the speech. (I figured if you could pull you kids to avoid watching Obama, I'd be justified doing the opposite.) But my daughter had a better idea.
You see, if we just pulled them the School might just think they were sick or had some other issues. So our kids decided that they should go to school today, and then we should check them out just for the speech, and then check them back in.
So, today I will pull my kids from High School, Junior High, and Elementary School letting people know why. My daughter has written letters for the school board and local newspapers complaining about it. She's a Junior this year, and I'm proud that she wants to not only watch the president, but make a public stand as well.
Makes a dad proud, it does.
