Well, it's another big day under the dome! Eight suspensions, on everything from Haiti relief (yay!) to Lester Flatt (yee-ha!). Clearly, the House is waiting for health care negotiators to find their way through to a compromise (though the reconciliation "sidecar" is clearly a rising star), and the negotiators are waiting to see what the President has to say tomorrow night.
On the Senate side, the long slog through the deficit ceiling hike continues. That in itself is a sign of the Senate's continuing dysfunction, with Republicans using the leverage of the "painless filibuster" to require 60 votes to pass the bill for the first time in recent memory. Maybe they'll drag things out long enough to have Scott Brown show up and force him to cast his first vote on raising the federal debt. (Though again, I'm sure they'll have someone like Voinovich take the hit for him.)
The "full" committee schedule appears below. The place really is in a deep freeze, awaiting the SOTU. Not unusual at all.
