The other day I got frustrated with always seeing pro-Bush stories listed at the top of Yahoo's Op-Ed section. Not only are they usually listed before pro-Kerry stories but also there seems to be substantially more pro-Bush stories than pro-Kerry ones. So I emailed Yahoo to complain and was told that they are not biased and simply pass along what is in the RSS feeds. So I figured they must have more Republican RSS feeds than Democratic ones. Is that true? I don't know. It is sort of strange because the owners of Yahoo are reputed to be liberals. Maybe they don't read their own news site?
Anyway, it would be great if someone could start analyzing this and making sure that everyone knowns Yahoo is passing along a bias or creating one themselves. In the meantime, I think it is worth collecting data on daily basis. So here goes with the first day's official tally on the number of Yahoo Op-Ed pieces:
pro-Bush: 7
pro-Kerry: 3
neutral: 7
After a fews days we can start a running average and start doing some statistics. Was today a good day or not for Kerry? Not so good, according to this measure. So come on, let's get on Yahoo's case.
