Well, it's happened. The chaos in Iraq has spilled its borders and, for tonight at least, engulfed Jordan. 67 dead and counting, over 100 injured. Think that would've happened if we didn't invade Iraq?
I don't have time to do this justice, wish I did, hope you'll expound on how to interpret today's attacks in Jordan. But... <more on the flip>
...really, it's simple. The chaos in Iraq - the insurgents, mixed with al Queda hard-liners, the inflammatory nature of our troops' presence and the conduct of some of them - all these things have a created a dangerous powderkeg. The fuse was lit a long time ago. Did today's blast represent this powderkep going off? Remember, Iraqi violence hadn't spread beyond it's borders so far (that I know of). This looks like a turning point; an escalation -- very bad news.
Regardless of the elections we've seen, or whatever constitution is nominally in place, the war's spreading. Instead of happy shiny democracies spreading across the middle east, we're seeing death, mayhem and destruction spreading instead. Recall, Iraq was not a terrorist training and breeding ground before we arrived.
Good going, BushCo. You're doing a heckuva job...
