Last round Tom Harkin and Bill Nelson were eliminated from the poll leaving only five candidates. The condorcet rounds begin.
These five final candidates (Clark, Richardson, Edwards, Graham, and Rockefeller) will now be entered into a series of 1v1 polls (10 in all) untill each candidate has faced each other candidate. I'm going to do the contests so that the races between the frontrunners come last. The order is meant to provide a degree of variety from day to day. If anyone has any suggestions for how to change it feel free to tell me. It is as follows:
Edwards v. Rockefeller
Graham v. Clark
Rockefeller v. Richardson
Edwards v. Clark
Graham v. Rockefeller
Richardson v. Edwards
Rockefeller v. Clark
Graham v. Edwards
Richardson v. Graham
Richardson v. Clark
John Edwards -- Senator North Carolina, elected 1998, former trial lawyer, described as articulate charming and young, three time marathon finisher, considered one of the most effective democrats during impeachment scandal, quite wealthy (sold law practice for $5 million), considered for VP in 2000, ambivalent on free trade, worked unsuccessfuly on healthcare, supported Iraq war resolution, involved in filibuster of Pickering, will not seek reelection to the senate, voting record about %60 liberal, (fun fact: named sexiest politician alive in 2000 by people magazine).
Jay Rockefeller -- Senator from WV elected for the first time in 1984, governor from 1976-84, Almost ran for president in 1991 but decided not to, very interested in health care reform, would like a total overhaul of system but knows thats unlikely today, very very tall (6'8?), opposed bush tax cuts fiercely, fortune estimaed at over $200 million, full name John D. Rockefeller IV, fought for steel tariffs and complained about loopholes when they were put in place, vice-chairman of intelligence comitee, voted for Iraq war resolution and against Ashcroft as AG, ratings for 2001 and 2002 vary between %60 and %80 liberal (fun fact: served for three years as president of West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon)
Please look at the discussions in the comment threads before voting. If there are no comments or insufficient comments I'd really apreciate it if you would post your reason for choosing the candidate you do choose before or after you vote.
