I've been blogging about Howard Dean for a while now and occassionally drag my mother into the fray when I feel its necessary. In the past I've used my mother as an example of the kind of Weekly Standard reading Republican woman who would be enamored by Gov. Dean. My mom was an extremely moderate, ex-RINO (she switched back just so she could vote for Howie. Too bad she lives in PA) who is still a subscriber to the Weekly Standard. She commiserated with me today in an e-mail and ended with this awesome 'graph:
Meanwhile, I gotta say, I'm SUPER excited about the Mayor of San Francisco
and the action he's taken. IT's about time someone just showed the world
what happens. Looking at all those cute old gay couples come out of City
Hall with big smiles on their faces made me feel as though I've been an
IDIOT to ever think that marriage should have anything to do with gender.
Howard made that difference for me, by gently getting me to start thinking
about this as a CIVIL RIGHTS issue, and now I'd be happy to sanction
inter-species marriages--after all, what real difference does it make as
long as everyone pays their taxes?
Take care, do keep in touch.
Love,MOM
My mom rules. She may live with Rick Santorum as her Senator, but that won't stop her from supporting man-on-dog matrimony.
