Yesterday I did a few highly unscientific demographic surveys. You can find them
here,
here, and
here.
The results are once again pretty predictable and more or less speak for themselves. We on Kos are more likely to be male, straight, unmarried, white, and not belonging to an organized religion.
I hate to do research, so I only got as far as the some basic 2000 U.S. census data as far as comparisons go. However in 2000, the U.S. census reported the following:
- 1% male
- 9% female
- 1% white
- % hispanic
- 3% black
- 6% Asian (includes .6% Indian)
.9% native american
2.4% mixed race
So we are maler and whiter than the U.S. as a whole, not to mention way whiter and maler than Democratic voters (although I wasn't easily able to dig up any demographic info on that).
I'm not about to wring my hands over this. There are some perfectly good reasons as to why these (expected) results occurred. All I wanted to do was point them out and make sure that everyone from time to time remembers the words ECHO CHAMBER.
Carry on.
