Oh well, I lasted three days away from Kos. Thanks for all the wonderful sentiments you sent my way, but I can't stay away from this site.
Late this morning, my mother came in with the news that her principal wanted to terminate her position. She got this news two weeks after her 70th birthday.
Never mind that she worked off the clock and through the summer to finish her work, or that we both did some of her work at night and on weekends.
Anyway, I had several choice letters ready in my mind, but here's the one that I'd like to write to her boss. She's the kind of person, though, who "doesn't want to make trouble" and I'll probably wind up respecting her wishes.
(300 choice words deleted per Mom's request.)
Yours truly,
Yamaneko

So why am I back? Partly to whine about the situation. Partly because I know that people in this country are working harder for lower wages, with less time to themselves, and in greater fear of losing their job -- I got a rude reminder of that this morning. Partly because the current rabble in the White House thinks that's just fine. Partly because the leadership of two great branches of Christianity have fallen for the Tempter and Deceiver George W. Bush and his empty promises of godliness through government -- I shudder to think of an outfit like the one that wants to fire my mother entrusted with teaching children about my Savior.
So I'm reporting for duty. Again. Thanks for the nice letters and comments, but it's harder being away from Kos than involved in it. Fuming until 4 am in the morning is more destructive as staying up until 3 to post on Kos.
