It's getting hard to be outraged by Sharron Angle's lies and insane views. But, at a Hispanic Student Union event, she managed to top herself:
"So that’s what we want is a secure and sovereign nation and, you know, I don’t know that all of you are Latino. Some of you look a little more Asian to me. I don’t know that. [Note: it's the Hispanic Student Union. The whole room is Hispanic teenagers.] What we know, what we know about ourselves is that we are a melting pot in this country. My grandchildren are evidence of that. I’m evidence of that. I’ve been called the first Asian legislator in our Nevada State Assembly."
This is the second crazy comment that has come out of this event.
When questioned about her incredibly racist ad depicting Hispanics sneaking into this country at an event for Hispanic children, she replied:
Question: Why is it that in all of your commercials you have the image of Latinos? What do you see when you hear, and I quote, "illegal aliens?"
Angle: I think that you’re misinterpreting those commercials. I’m not sure that those are Latinos in that commercial. What it is, is a fence and there are people coming across that fence. What we know is that our northern border is where the terrorists came through. That’s the most porous border that we have. We cannot allow terrorists; we cannot allow anyone to come across our border if we don’t know why they’re coming. So we have to secure all of our borders and that’s what that was about, is border security. Not just our southern border, but our coastal border and our northern border.
Students seemed to be baffled by her response:
Rancho High School teacher Isaac Barron said his students organized the meeting with Angle Friday because they felt the ads stereotyped young Hispanics. Barron, a Democrat, said Angle's explanation was met with incredulous stares.
"Some of the kids, they couldn't help but chuckle at that," he said. "To deny they are anti-Hispanic when those are the only people shown in her ads, it doesn't add up."
Hispanics are an increasingly important voting bloc in Nevada, where they make up roughly 25 percent of the population. More than 80 percent of the Silver State's Hispanics hail from Mexico.
Here is the offensive Angle ad:
Let's hope these comments get out to Nevada voters. Early voting started in Nevada on Saturday and while we are ahead in raw numbers in the two biggest counties in Nevada so far (Clark and Washoe), this race is too close for comfort.

Update #1 (with video h/t to Scarce):
Update #2: Angle's spokesman's comment (it's all Reid's fault):
"This is a low blow from Harry Reid. Sharron is making the point that this country is a melting pot and you cannot judge people based on stereotypes or the way they look. When she was in the legislature, a reporter mistakenly referred to Sharron as being of Asian decent. Again, making the point to the students that you can't judge people based on first glance.
