According to this article from WRAL Republicans, especially white males are the early participants in early voting in North Carolina.
So far, 72,173 voters have cast early ballots, which more than doubles the number cast after the first three days of early voting in 2006. Two years ago, more than 266,000 voters crowded one-stop centers in the first three days of early voting.
There are actually more Democratic votes so far, however, according to Democracy North Carolina
the total number of Republicans who voted between Thursday and Saturday still trailed Democrats statewide by about 4,300. Yet, the margin is significantly smaller than the 3-1 ratio Democrats held in 2008.
The nonpartisan Democracy North Carolina has lots of great information and more numbers.
Obviously it does not need to be restated, but we have lots of important races down here and I am afraid it looks like we might have a bit of an "enthusiasm gap".
Again, GOTV!!! Here is the link to a downloadable list ofOne Stop Voting Sites from the NC SBOE.
Update: One thing I did notice reading more at the Democracy NC site, is it appears that the votes are not coming from the most populated (and Democratic) counties. In fact Wake, Mecklenburg, Durham and Orange are not in the top 10. So, hopefully, a lot of GOTV effort can significantly change these results.
