Of course I wasn't shocked when Tony Snow was appointed press secretary. My first reaction was: Now, when a Dem wins the White House in 2008, s/he can appoint Keith Olbermann as Press Secretary. But then I realized I was being unfair to KO. He's a real journalist who seeks out the truth, not a potential mouthpiece for any administration.
So I thought a bit longer about it, trying to pin down someone who actually was a biased liberal media figure. Not Jon Stewart, he's just a snarky comic with good timing and an impeccable fashion sense. Plus he likes to make fun of Democrats, so he won't do. And by that measure, Stephen Colbert is right out.
Then I realized, you have to go to Air America to really find any media figures who constantly adhere to a solid liberal agenda. Hell, I had to flip to comedy central after only one potential hit in the network media (and MSNBC isn't really a network, anyway). More below the fold.
So, you want proof of a conservative media bias? It's not so much in the hiring of Snow, as it is in the fact that the Democrats don't have any obvious choices in the mainstream media. The GOP? Fire away! They've got all of Fox, several choices from CNN, Timmeh, Chrissy M, a whole slew of candidates. What more could you ask for, in terms of clarity?
Anyway, my thought for the day.
