The Oregon Senate race hasn't provided much interest this cycle because, well, Ron Wyden is in no danger of losing his seat. He is being challenged by Jim Huffman, a political neophyte who, despite being a law professor, doesn't come across as all that bright.
[D]uring a debate last night with Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR), [Huffman] assert[ed] that he hasn’t argued for privatizing Social Security, literally one sentence after calling for the creation of private accounts:
I have argued for allowing newcomers to the Social Security system to have the option of private accounts. I have not argued for privatizing the Social Security system. There’s nothing in the record that would uphold that argument.
Now that's efficient position reversal. None of this "the campaign clarified a statement made yesterday" business. Ken Buck should take notes.
