Earlier this hour President Obama announced that authorities have intercepted two packages containing explosives sent from Yemen and intended for a Chicago synagogue. Both packages were intercepted before reaching the United States.
In a briefing following President Obama's statement, the White House Counterterrorism Advisor John Brennan told reporters that the packages appear to have been intended to do harm. Brennan said that authorities the only packages that have been specifically identified as dangerous have already been intercepted, however earlier a flight from Yemen was intercepted by fighter pilots out of concern that there may have been a dangerous package on board.
