aside from being too young, a non-citizen, or dead already-- I know, I've heard all those jokes--
Seriously, the ONLY reason is if you have already voted in this election. Early voted, absentee voted, fine, then I don't expect your ass at the polls tomorrow.
Otherwise, you better be there.
And you better at least try to bring somebody else with you who hasn't voted yet and is legally entitled to do so. (Yes, at that precinct. Stop the stupid jokes, already.)
Because, you know, if you don't, and especially if you are a female, then the ghosts who maybe didn't show up at your door last night are gonna come for you.
The ghosts of your grandmother or great-grandmother who couldn't vote a mere 90 years ago. Or your Chinese/Japanese/African American, unable to pay a poll tax, or handicapped, or any other family members who couldn't vote although the Constitution said they ought to be able to.
They are watching you. And waiting to see what you do tomorrow.
BIGTIME !
It isn't about you. And it isn't about your children or your grandchildren.
It isn't even about your pooties and/or woozles.
It's about the whole damned world.
Yeah, I said it.
The WHOLE DAMNED WORLD !
Because the world IS damned the way things are going.
The world is in big trouble.
Everybody on the planet. And all the trees and fish and bears and critters as yet undiscovered in what remains of our rainforests and the depths of the seas-- even the ones BP has already polluted beyond belief.
It's not about wind or solar or tidal power. It's not about alternative energy or rare earths or oil or any of the stuff you think it's about.
It is about sanity. Just like Jon Stewart said.
And unless we come up out of the pit-- in the Fenix capsulte, or by the hand of God raising us from our despair-- unless we come up out of this pit that has been dug over these last 8-30-50-100 years, there will be nothing for any of us.
The Walking Dead will be having it good compared to what all of us are going to have to live through between now and the end of this century.
We've turned this planet into one hell of a shitpile.
And there's nobody but us to clean it up.
Will you help ?
And if you're staying home, can you make a few phone calls to GOTV ? Or give a voter a ride to the polls ? Or pick up the kids for a friend so they can make it to vote ?
Call your local Dem candidate's office or go to OFA for suggestions as to how you can help--
And once you have voted tomorrow, make sure you go to the grocery store or S-Bux or anywhere in public with your red white and blue "I VOTED !" sticker on to remind others to vote, too.
PUH-LEESE !
