I've seen that there could be a change to the current law that people born outside the U.S. cannot be president. Unfortunately the Gropinator could be a possible nominee by 2008.
Arnold's kinda of a perfect cotton candy Rovian candidate, all style, no substance, who's photogenic and has name recognition. Heck the public has already elected a B actor and a chimp, so why not the Terminator. And wouldn't it ironic if the party that went nuts over Clinton's sexual problems, nominated a person w/ a groping problem.
If Arnold wins in the 06 CA governor's race, his name is up there w/ Guiliani and Jebya. (Of course, a lot depends on what happens in this years election; however, I can't imagine McCain being a frontrunner for the 08 nomination, so mark him off the short list). As for the CA governorship and a 2nd term, a few things are in Arnold's favor.....
One is that Cali For Nians like divided government. Iirc CA had a republican governor from 1982 to 1998. Also, w/ high GDP, the deficits shouldn't rival what Davis encounter. Surely, Arnold will take credit. Also, Arnold is pretty popular w/ the voters, which is indicative of the $15 bil. borrowing proposition passing in March. Altogether, a Arnold puppet presidency, with Chris Matthews as Chief of Staff, could rival the puppet president of W. What would really suck is 16 yrs. of it. Hello thirdworldom, as the U.S. becomes Alabama.
