GOP moderates are noting that the incoming class of Tea Party Republicans are even less informed about science than the existing membership. And the field of deception and willful ignorance with the most money and effort behind it is, of course, the energy industry and the suite of environmental issues it raises:
"Tom Friedman gave me this great analogy yesterday," he said, referring to The New York Times columnist and green energy advocate. "Your child is sick. Ninety-eight doctors say 'treat him this way.' Two say 'no, this other [way] is the way to go.' I'll go with the two. You're taking a big risk with those kids. Because 98 of the doctors say, ‘do this thing,’ two say, 'do the other.'"
I'll give you an even simpler analogy. Your child may be running a fever. Do you look at what Rush Limbaugh says, or what the thermometer says? Here's what NASA's thermometers tell us.
See that little, tiny hook in red in the top right corner? Conservatives call that global cooling. Imagine what they'd say if the chart were flipped upside down and presented to them?
