Barely, but we return one of the few Dems in what has been our worst nightmare - the Teabagger Tsunami we all feared. We return Dem Bill Owens to serve a full term among all them Teabaggers. The RNC poured all kinds of $$ and resources into this race to return NY 23 to its rightful Republican side of the aisle, but the Dem boots on the ground here withstood the tidal wave.
NY State did well across the board, as expected, and we also return a Dem to Albany to serve in the state legislature from here! Yes, Addie Russell got herself re-elected in what has traditionally been Repub Country up here! So, while the country as a whole bought the Billionaire b.s. and voted for Teabaggers, here in traditional Repubville we re-elected two Dems and sent them back to their respective office. So, it's safe to say this neck of the woods has turned from solid Red to at least Purple. So... there's hope. Not much. But all is not totally lost. If we can elect Dems in this neck of the woods they can be elected anywhere. Well, except maybe Apalachia. There is zero hope in Rand Paul land. But, everywhere else is absolutely possible. Probable even. We just need to get Dem voters off their dead asses and to the polls. We need to give them a reason to get off their dead asses. I believe the next two years of Billionaire Rule will be all the reason they need in 2012 to get up and go vote. All we need to do is wear our "Obama 2012" tee shirts everywhere. Well, everywhere on weekends at least. At the Mall, at the gym. Let other would-be voters know they're not alone. That there are Dems out there, and that there is hope. It won't take long before those would-bees become can't-wait-to-bees.
