Maybe I haven't gotten the memo yet. I'm still proud to back Dean. I attended a precinct caucus officer training in my county (we have caucuses in WA on 2/7) today so I couldn't be at Howard Dean's event in Seattle today. Some like minded people did though and passed on the following.
Squeezed by the front doors, but inside enough to hear the speech and hear everyone clapping when Dean spoke to the folks in the lobby. I liked when he addressed the moderate Republicans in the crowd and said something like they've got to be feeling betrayed by Bush's policies and deceit, along with the hijacking of their party by right wingers and ideologues. And then he said there was room for our moderate Republican brothers and sisters in the Democratic Party and he asked them to join us to turn this country around. It was a good gesture and well said...
This is something I talk with Republicans about quite frequently and find they agree. Some of them are as eager to be rid of George as the rest of us.
Just attended a rally for Howard Dean at Town Hall in Seattle. The line to get in streached around the block, twice! I love Seattle. Because there were so many people, we couldn't get upstairs to find a seat. They stopped us because they were worried about Fire Codes. So we hung around downstairs, and the staff started saying that he would be coming through the room we were in to get to the stage. He made his
way through the crowd, and actually stopped to thank the people in the downstairs area before going through the doors.
Then Jim McDermott started to speak, and Howard came back down the stairs to wait for introductions to be over. We could watch him during the introductions, and when Jim said "Congressman Dean, I mean Senator, I mean Governor or whatever he is, is the right man for the job.", we all laughed. Howard got back at him by thanking Senator McDermott for the introduction. Priority 1: Send Bush back to Crawford, Texas. (Actually,Crawford isn't far
enough. A raft in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico would be ok.) Priority 2: Elect Howard Dean to the White House. If it doesn't happen this time, it will be good enough for me to just end this Administration. Howard actually said that he will win sooner or later, but that he would rather it be sooner than later. This means that even if Mr... Kerry gets the nomination, Dean's not giving up.
Yeah, I don't think he sounds defeated yet.
I can't wait to see what Feb 7 brings.
