I thought I was taking a break from politics this evening when I went to a site devoted to investing in precious metals. (The site, for the record, was
321 gold). The webmaster there has a Libertarian bent, and a small section at the bottom of his site always gives links to three good recent articles on the war (which he opposes) and/or the erosion of our civil liberties (which he deplores).
When I clicked on one of them tonight, I got the surprise of my life. I was at a right-wing site that occasionally carries banners saying things like "The United Nations Wants to Take Your Gun!"
What I read there left me flabbergasted.
In a section called the "The Birch Blog" (yeah--the John Birch Society) is an article eviscerating Bush and using the same language I've read here a thousand times.
I'm not going to excerpt the piece and do a proper diary (mine usually attract reader totals in the single-digits, so for me writing one is not worth the effort). But I do want to provide the link.
If the extreme right feels this way about Bush, his base consists of nothing but Republican party activists and people with no teeth waiting for The Rapture. Perhaps the Left and the hardcore, way-out Right can create a scissors effect and finish off this failed presidency once and for all. An unlikely alliance, to be sure. But whatever works. . . .
Just read it.
