Last week Senate Republicans blocked health care for 9/11 responders because millionaires hadn't received their tax cuts, and according to Tom Coburn (R-OK), even though the tax-cut ransom has been paid it may not be enough to free the hostages.
Appearing this morning on Fox News, Coburn said:
... that passage of the bill is a "maybe, doubtful."
And that:
"This is a bill that's been drawn up and forced through Congress at the end of the year on a basis to solve a problem that we didn't have time to solve and we didn't get done."
Actually, this bill has been drawn up every year for five years, with this year's bill being passed in the House last July. And as for that lack of time to solve the "problem"—or what others might describe as illnesses and deaths among those who risked their own lives on 9/11—it's been more than nine years.
So whining about time just doesn't cut it even if the Republican photo-ops formerly known as heroes have lost their luster for the GOP ... unlike those tax cuts for millionaires that never seem to get old.
