Kossacks have been spending a lot of time diffusing nasty memes brewing around Howard Dean. Most of this centers around refuting the "arguments" of assorted pieces by jerks like Brooks, Wilgoren, Saletan and recently the hysterics of Josh Marshall (not jerk, just overreacting).
This is grand. We're sharpening our blogger claws on these little lumps o'lies. It's good practice for next year's massacre season. And we're proving invaluable to the candidate himself, whose campaign has wisely used our research and meme rebuttals.
But let's take a breather and remember why we're fighting for the guy in the first place. Draw back and reflect on how Dean the man has matured, grown more polished, comfortable and almost elegant, never losing his fire and never relenting under a flurry of attacks.
The Candidate
I do this once in a while. I'll go and watch his interview with Chris Matthews on "Hardball" or revisit that that great piece on 60 Minutes II. You can almost see world-weary Dan Rather's eyes twinkle with something like joy at the sight of the real thing
GT.
