Well, it turns out Canada's new PM Paul Martin has got, well, balls!!
Soon after the U.S. Ambassador to Canada, Paul Celluci, shot his mouth off again saying such things as:
"We will deploy [missles over Canadian airspace]. We will defend North America."
and
"We simply cannot understand why Canada would in effect give up its sovereignty -- its seat at the table -- to decide what to do about a missile that might be coming towards Canada."
Prime Minister Paul Martin made it clear he not too happy with this tone coming from Washington.
"We would expect to be consulted.",
he said.
"This is our airspace, we're a sovereign nation and you don't intrude on a sovereign nation's airspace without seeking permission."
As a Canadian, I am offended by Celluci's comments and I commend our Prime Minister for immediately responding to these ridiculous thuggish comments in no uncertain terms.
Canada did not deserve the response it got from Washington on this issue -- especially when the Prime Minister went out of his way to be gracious to Bush with his refusal to participate.
