Senator Obama:
Today you posted the following drivel:
"There is one way, over the long haul, to guarantee the appointment of judges that are sensitive to issues of social justice, and that is to win the right to appoint them by recapturing the presidency and the Senate. And I don't believe we get there by vilifying good allies, with a lifetime record of battling for progressive causes, over one vote or position. I am convinced that, our mutual frustrations and strongly-held beliefs notwithstanding, the strategy driving much of Democratic advocacy, and the tone of much of our rhetoric, is an impediment to creating a workable progressive majority in this country."
With all due respect, Senator, you simply don't get it. You assume we want to win the Presidency and control the Senate. You assume we want a "big tent." Nonsense. We want to feel superior. We want to feel that we are more progressive than those bastards hanging on to Senate seats in states so bereft of common sense that they give the worst President in history 60% of their vote.
We can't stand those guys. They make us ill. See how progressive we are?
We wish we had a parliamentary system with 8 parties so we could be in such a small, rarefied minority that our progressive purity would more obviously stand out. We would prefer to be so insistent on ideological purity that our 8th place minority party would never even be asked to form a coalition government with other minority parties. We wouldn't accept anyway, because we would despise all those other guys.
People like you irritate us, too. Where is your anger? Your rationality pisses us off because it demonstrates how much you lack passion and conviction. The 22 DINOs who voted for Roberts should all become Republicans so we can hate them without any remaining vestige of guilt for doing so, and yet, you want us to welcome them like the Prodigal Son.
Senator, you are bright and eloquent and manage to be well-liked in a demographically diverse state, but frankly, we are simply not impressed. Sure, your diary today got some attention, but how often do you post? While we are busy 24/7 making a difference reading and writing in the blogosphere, just what are you doing with your time, anyway?
In short, your attempts to broaden the appeal of this party threatens our identity and we won't stand for it--- instead we'll stay seated in front of our computers and bitch, bitch, bitch until we make a difference--or get carpal tunnel trying.
