Something tells me that this is a short-lived story.
The Army, spending almost 40% of its budget on the $51 million Comanche helicopter has decided instead to cancel the program.

Evidently, the $51 million Comanche can't do anything that the $19 million Apache Longbow can't and even Generals can figure out that three is better than one. The Comanche evidently lacks some crew survivability enhancements of the Apache as well. The lower radar signature (Stealth) of the Comanche is a joke, as we've seen most Apaches in Iraq and Afghanistan shot down by eye-guided RPG's or short range shoulder fired missiles.
In this wacky, defense industry world, Boeing doesn't really care, because they also sell the Apache Longbow.
So who does care?
Well, the production facility for the Apache is in Mesa, Arizona (also spring training grounds for Kos' Chicago Cubs) and the test facility for the Comanche is in West Palm Beach, Florida (hated Cardinals). Production facilities are in Philadelphia and Stratford, CT (thanks for the memories, Joe.)
While Arizona is no doubt a battleground state, can Bush allow this program to die in Florida and Pennsylvania? Stay tuned.
