On Monday, just four Republicans voted for cloture on the jobs bill. Today, eight new votes emerged from the woodwork on final passage:
Lamar Alexander (R-TN)
Thad Cochran (R-MS)
James Inhofe (R-OK)
George LeMieux (R-FL)
Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
Roger Wicker (R-MS)
In addition, two other Republicans voted for it today, while being conveniently absent on Monday:
Orrin Hatch (R-UT)
Richard Burr (R-NC)
So you can say that these flip floppers voted against it, before they voted for it. You can also say that as inadequately small as this jobs bill was, it still was good politics and good policy. Otherwise, these chickenshits wouldn't vote for something they tried to block.
Nice try, though. These Republicans still voted against jobs, and they still voted against small business tax cuts, CYA efforts notwithstanding.
