Hazen talks about Rob Stein's analysis of the Republicans, as the paramount of corporate efficiency. He also says that we need to put down our differences to have a big tent just like the Republicans. I think that is complete bullshit.
The Republicans are efficient, and that's where we need to be, but that's not why they got to where they are today. They are unified by a few principles. Greed, hate, hypocrisy and lying like a Encyclopedia salesman. They fight like crazy to defend those principles and Mr. Machiavelli would be proud to call them his friends, especially if he could get something out of them.
I assume that I was told to read this article because of this paragraph, written By Don Hazen, www.AlterNet.org, Posted February 7, 2005:
And, says Stein, there are "very important lessons" to be learned from the conservative experience over the past 40 years. For starters, progressives must learn to find common ground and set aside some differences they may have. "A movement is built upon 'marriages of convenience' among disparate, but inter-related, strains of a broad coalition which is able to agree upon some core values," Stein believes. "It is okay for there to be disagreement within the family; not everyone will be equally interested in the same set of issues."
I agree that everyone should have a mind of their own but how often do you see Republicans sabotaging big Republican programs or going against the GOP tide, like all the Democratic assholes who vote for Rice? Who in the Republican Party has done to them what Lieberman has done to the Democratic Party? For God's sakes, John McCain, the biggest phony in the Republican Party, their supposed rebel, was a POW and he was adamant about how horrible torture is, yet that slimy bastard voted for Gonzales and Rice.
It's not that the party has to accept the renegades, it's the renegades should step in line for the good of the party. Lieberman's ass should be kicked as far from DNC headquarters as possible. As I have said before, let him join the Republicans and give them fits.
I remember how fair Sen. Gordon Smith (R-WA) and Chris Shays (it may be spelled wrong but I don't care because he's a republican rep from CT) were about the impeachment. The news media flocked to them because they were the voices speaking out. They were wonderful guys because they allegedly needed more analysis about the charges against Clinton. How fucking naive are those who believed those two were going to vote against impeachment. I laughed every time I saw them.
Republicans are some of the worst people we have in this country and until we can clean house of the Liebermans and the Nelsons (both of them) and the Pryors and the Landrieus and start calling these Republicans lying pigs, we don't stand a chance.
Al Franken today had some segments from Limbaugh saying that Clinton never really had any surpluses, it was all on paper. Some Democrat has to get furious and call him a "lying piece of excrement" and then when all the attention is turned to the Democrat...he or she should make a list 20 feet tall of all the lies Limbaugh tells. I am sure Franken would help.
We need a direction and we need to tell those who obstruct us to get out of the way. We must tell America about the lies the Republicans tell and how unfair our society is to the middle and upper middle classes. We have a huge natural constituency that we don't tap. It crosses over the reds and the blues..we have 85% and all we have to do is just dispel all the Republicans lies, tell Americans the truth and start conversations everywhere about fairness.
I uncovered a real tragedy on the middle and upper middle classes of how they are getting stuck paying for all of the Soc Security and at least 85% of the Medicare for short-term immigrants. It's a huge cost that the wealthy go scot-free of paying. Nobody, anywhere took the time to understand how severe and unfair the problems are because Democrats are to PC to talk about immigrants. I think immigrants are a great part of this country but those who exploit them should be paying the most towards their retirement and right now, they pay NONE of the expense. Do you realize how much misinformation there is out there about this?
We have to make our natural constituency angry, angrier than the greedy bastards of the Republican Party. That's not going to happen with Democrats like Lieberman sabotaging us every chance they can get. If you don't get mad and if you don't get the adrenaline going, you don't win. That is the only way we will get back on top.
