Just saw the first showing in Austin. Sold out. Line around the building.
Many have said that F9/11 is not persuasive and will not change minds. I happen to agree. But I think the effect will be felt beyond the theater.
Dems and Reps will see what they want to see in this movie. It may sway some independents, or people who have been living under a rock. Not enough to make a difference. But the effect will extend beyond just a person seeing a movie.
F9/11 is a completely devastating indictment of W. It is unbelievably effective at making people completely furious. It is the best rant I have ever seen. It's not "persuasive" or "convincing" (to those who aren't already persuaded and convinced) because it doesn't need to be. It's preaching to the choir.
And the choir is gonna sing. I think the effect of this movie will be to make it a lot more uncomfortable to support W. A W supporter who sees this movie will not leave the theater planning to vote for Kerry. But I think this movie will invigorate and embolden the left to make them challenge W supporters. And W supporters are gonna feel a little less comfortable with their guy. It will be hard to defend W to a person who has seen this movie. It's a primer in Bush-hating.
Ugh. What a movie. I'm wrecked.
