And where does a spurned Democrat go? To Fox News.
"Has the Speaker come to you since I last spoke to you last week," said Van Susteren "or even Congressman Steny Hoyer, anyone come to you in the top leadership and talked to you, said down and said, you know, What's your problem?"
Stupak's answer: "No."
"Don't you find that unusual, if they want you and your 11 others?" Van Susteren asked.
Stupak said no, he did not find it usual. When asked why, he said: "Because they disagree me with on the issue, so they'll wait until the last minute and see if they can run -- do an end run, get the votes without us."
Because "they disagree" with him "on the issue," he says, not because he's been totally intransigent prick who is willing to kill health insurance reform if he doesn't achieve his goal of making sure health insurance no longer covers abortion. But it's also likely because leadership is indeed peeling Stupak supporters away, and his threat is becoming less credible.
