In the Senate, courtesy of the Office of the Majority Leader:
Convenes: 9:30am
The Senate will convene at 9:30am. After the Senate convenes, there will be a moment of silence to express solidarity with the people of Poland.
The Senate will then turn to a period of morning business and senators will have an opportunity to make statements on Poland. Following those statements, there will be a period of morning business for 1 hour with senators permitted to speak therein for up to 10 minutes each. The Republicans will control the first 30 minutes and the Majority will control the final 30 minutes.
Following morning business, the Senate will resume consideration of HR4851, the Continuing Extensions Act, with the time until 12:30pm equally divided and controlled between the two Leaders or their designees. If a point of order is raised against the bill, at 12:30pm, the Senate would proceed to a roll call vote on the motion to waive applicable points of order with respect to the Baucus amendment #3721, as modified, if modified. No intervening motions or amendments are in order during this period of debate.
Fifteen suspensions in the House, and another full day dedicated to the still-pending UI/COBRA extension in the Senate.
Wow.
I really have nothing to add to that.
Well, there's always the committees! And you could certainly entertain yourself with those. The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, for instance, will be considering the national broadband plan, and that means net neutrality will be an issue. And in the Judiciary Committee, Eric Holder will be on hand to testify for a DOJ oversight hearing, and that usually means a good grilling on detainee policy and the like.
Hopefully we'll get some indication today of about how long before we can expect the Senate to actually vote to pass UI/COBRA.
