I know this frame is a litttle out there. And we have a lot of cynics and angry people in the dKos bunch. But who wants to be outraged all of the time? Not me.
As I was waking up this morning spooning with my non-naked husband and his 9 year old daughter on the floor at the foot of the bed, I started thinking about how much I love life.
I love my husband's soft morning kisses. I like the way Rachel wants to sleep in our room when she is over for the weekend. I like the way my step-son, Ben, starts making waffle batter before his dad even comes into the kitchen. I like the sunshine in the window and the fresh air of spring when I open that window.
As I am in love with life this morning, it occurs to me that the Democratic Party is truly the party of love. Not romantic love. Just good old-fashion we-care-about-the-human-race love.
The Democrats love people. All people. No one is excluded.
The Democrats love the earth. We want to preserve it for future generations.
We love peace. We don't want people to fight. Especially when there is not a reason to be fighting.
We love children. We are willing to help fund the best education possible and if that means a little less money in our own pockets, fine.
We love the elderly. We are fighting to save Social Security because we know that it has been the saftey net for years and our country can afford to provide this sense of security that this saftey net gives.
We love people who are poor. We want to help them have the food, housing, job skills, and health insurance that they need to succeed in life.
We love the constitution. We want to preserve it to protect our citizens and their rights.
Republicans can be the party of money. The Democrats can be the party of love. We already are. We just don't shout it out to the world.
