He was not elected the first time. If he has angered a mere 10,000 voters in any of an assortment of states, it's over isn't it?
It is possible he's pleased voters? Has he grown his base? Have people that wanted Gore to win seen the light and realized they were wrong, and Bush is the man for them?
Perhaps W is going to get the pro-war voters to turn out... but don't they already vote? Didn't they already vote in 2000?
Can a wealthy insider pseudo-Texan really have a hope of getting elected in this country? If I ask "can an AWOL rich-kid pseudo-Texan win the Aouth?" you'll think I'm being totally facetious, because well, he did win the South, gotta be honest.
But no, I'm only half joking.
----
I ask this question half honestly... he didn't win, he was selected, so can he win? And the other half is honest too--- people have skeletons, people have big lies (e.g. Bush is a Texan), and yet people pull this stuff off all the time.
When calculating electability, a candidate with Tourettes is unelectable at this point in history. That is, something very immediately visible about a person (a skeleton has to be gargantuan to qualify), because bigotry is the story behind electability. If you don't have something like that against you, or some other national bigotry against you, then you are electable and the question is only how to go about it.
But back to the first part, I'm serious, I don't really consider Bush "electable".
