Joe Sestak is making Arlen Specter's party switch a major issue in the Pennsylvania Democratic primary with his campaign's first TV ad focused on Specter's conversion from Republican to Democrat. The hard-hitting spot, which is running statewide, features an image of Arlen Specter shaking Sarah Palin's hand and accuses Specter of "switching parties to save one job...his." Watch:
A few weeks ago, I argued that despite Specter's significant lead in polls, it would be a mistake to count Sestak out. The latest polls still show Specter leading, but with 12 days to go before the primary, Sestak has closed the gap considerably. With a close race and tough ads like this going on the air, it's no surprise that the party establishment is starting to panic.
