Many of us concerned Democrats and progressives have been posting, writing letters, making calls, etc. in support of Howard Dean becoming DNC Chairman. Many have said things like "if they pick Vilsack [or anyone else from the more-of-the-same wing of the party] I'll never give them any money again." That's as good a stick as any to beat them with, but it strikes me as not likely to be effective overall, since they can still count on votes and plenty of dough (enough to stay alive but ineffective) without our support.
So I think it's time for the carrot (or turkee) over the stick.
When you write to the DNC or any of the delegates, tell them up front that you will give the DNC a contribution in January, should Dean become the Chairman. Name an explicit denomination ($25, $50, $100 or even more if you can afford it) and tell them that there's a check for that amount with "DNC" written on it just waiting to go out, should Dean be chosen.
That should get their attention.
P.S. If someone else already posted this idea, then kudos to you and sorry for the repeat.
P.P.S. Of course, it goes without saying that if the above idea is actually illegal in some way (although I can't think of why that would be; DNC chairman is not a public office) then disregard it. Any election lawyers out there who know?
