Yes, the all caps may be annoying and I apologize. But I also have friends in New Orleans, so please bear with me.
Here's the deal . . . nearly 2000 years ago, the leader of the most powerful nation on earth did something and is still remembered for it today. What springs to mind when someone says "Nero?" Got a single image in your head? Good . . . now on to the flip . . . .
Most of us saw the picture of Bush playing guitar and pretending to be a country music star. Something that occurred simultaneously with Katrina's onslaught. My idea is to cement Bush with that image for all time.
Just as Nero is juxtaposed playing his "fiddle" as Rome burnt, why can't we juxtapose the picture of Bush strumming with images of flooded New Orleans? If enough of these images start appearing on the net, perhaps Newsweek or Time or something will pick it up. While I have no facility with such tools, I know there are folks in this community who do. I love the idea of "branding" Bush and his ilk (maybe we can cluster a few select Republicans in togas behind Bush?) with this image for the ages. After all, Nero is really remembered for only one thing.
What say you? Anyone up for the challenge?
