Clark has a
plan to catch Osama.
Although the actual plan -- enlisting Saudi commandos to occupy and search the Afghan-Pakistanin border -- would seem problematic, the General gets points for reminding us that Osama, not Saddam, is who we ought to be thinking about when Bush tells us that we "..must not forget the lessons of September 11..."
Is anybody else thinking that the Bushites might be planning an October surprise (to coin a phrase)? Maybe not Osama's head on a stick, but some major movement against "the real killers" this summer?
Not that we need to worry that the fantasists and idealogues who brought us the swift and and glorious liberation of Iraq have a hope of pulling off an actual win against Al Queda. However, they could sure try to make the arrest of Al Queda operatives (or similar) here in the US (for instance) look a success for USA PATRIOT ACT/War on Terror/Homeland Security. It is all about the perception of progress, and the magnitude of the threat.
The could telegraph the event with color-coded terror alerts and announcements about "increased chatter" on the terrorist channel, then they raid a Mosque or the offices of an Islamic Non Profit and find evidence of an "imminent" terrorist attack...
Anyway, that's whats going on under this tin-foil hat this morning.
