like many of you, i not only voted for mr. kerry but also made something of an effort to see that others did also (volunteering, driving folks to the polls, etc.) in the post- election season, i have tried to read and reflect and plan. i ask my fellow citizens to consider my ideas. thank you!
please consider metaphors:
a true democratic republic would be like a maze, cheeze everywhere.
sadly, the history of our nation has proven to be more of a one way interstate. such is the direction of military empire. however, recent history has seen many gigantic billboards placed, roadside, at regular intervals. the billboards advertise not truck stops or mcdonalds, etc., but rather a return to a genuine, democratic republic. the billboards read " Democratic Republic- 22 miles ahead- Exit 17A- Avoid the fate of Permanent Military Empire!" and a little further down the road, another billboard " Next Exit! America returns to Democracy!", and, finally, "Last Chance! Exit Now! History Doesn't Have to Repeat Itself! Permanent State of Military Empire Ahead!"
it is my opinion that some time ago the car of the united states of america sped past that last chance exit. and now, we are deep within the territory of military empire. who was driving the car when it crossed over? was it bush 41, who technically i guess could've said we've won the cold war and then toned down the military component a bit, etc.?
and so on to why i tried to stir up some support for mr. kerry. this interstate, eventually, simply ends and the car of the USA will disappear into the abyss of history. an interesting question is for how many more miles does the road extend into the future. 500 miles? 20,000? 5 million?
george bush, bless his heart, has got the pedal to the damn metal. this sonofabitch is making good time, my friends, he's got a democratic republic radar detector and he's set the cruise control at a cool 120 MPH. i voted for mr. kerry because i think he would've kept to the speed limit for the most part, a 55-60 MPH range. if someone like ralph nader were elected, we might even get out of the car and walk.
60 million republicans
60 million democrats
80 million citizens possessed of a finely tuned bullshit detector
all the best!
