If your son or daughter is thinking about enlisting to fight Bu$hCo's war, take them to see JARHEAD as soon as possible.
Bleak, disheartening, stark, raw and ugly, this movie takes any glamour out of war. This is no Audie Murphy campaign to encourage more heroes, this is modern warfare at it's most coarse and degrading, from boot camp to scorpion fights to latreen duty, these jarheads learn that all in war is definitely not fair. In fact, they never actually get to kill anyone, much to their frustration and chagrin. This is, of course, one Marine's view of the first Gulf war, which bears little resemblance to the current quagmire our troops are caught in, but it's a clear window into the degradation and humiliation wreaked upon those who sign up for "the suck." For those of us who are anti-war, anti-recruiters, this film is heaven sent. I highly recommend.
