Maybe Congresswoman Millender-McDonald thought with the Los Angeles Mayoral election taking place, nobody would notice her endorsement of Doug Drummond for Mayor of Long Beach. Doug Drummond is President of the Long Beach Area Republican Party. I did and others will as well.
Now with the election standing at about a year away, I can't imagine why she would endorse a fairly prominently placed Republican, when I know there are good Democrats who are still thinking about getting in the race. To be fair, I haven't yet asked. I intend to.
While local elections are to be non-partisan, how do we accomplish some of Chairman's Dean's goals is this is the message we send as a Party?
Namely, how do we get local Democrats elected to office, while Congressional Democrats are supporting Republicans?
How do we connect with our base at local level, while trying to explain away Democratic Leadership (she was on Kerry's steering committee)supporting Republicans?
I think this is a problem, and I think it needs to be responded with a great deal of reason.
Any thoughts on this matter?
